How Factionalism, Foreign Scandals, and Radical Infiltration Corrupted India's Biggest Student Movement
A massive student protest in New Delhi has taken an ugly and unexpected turn. What started as a fair fight for medical students has turned into internal wars, foreign money scandals, and street violence. Thousands of innocent young students are now trapped in a dangerous political mess.
1. The Crazy Backstory: History Repeats Itself
The current crisis has a deeply ironic history. The year was 1997. Around 1,500 students gathered outside the state secretariat in Bhubaneswar to protest a major examination paper leak under the Congress-led Odisha government. Leading those very street protests as an 18-year-old student organizer with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) was none other than the current Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. Now, almost three decades later, the same Pradhan sits inside the Ministry facing the exact same fury from India's youth.
2. The Angry Spark and a Satirical Rise
The modern movement ignited after a highly controversial remark in court. A Supreme Court judge reportedly compared struggling, unemployed youth to "cockroaches" and "parasites". Deeply insulted, a young graduate named Abhijeet Dipke founded the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). It began as a youth-led satirical political movement. However, as public outrage peaked over NEET exam paper leaks and student suicides, it quickly transformed into a powerful national protest group.
3. The Power of On-the-Ground Unity
As thousands of stressed students poured into Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, ordinary citizens stepped up to help. In a deeply touching display of unity, people from different states across India began using apps to order food, water, and snacks directly to the protest sites. This overwhelming support kept the innocent, exhausted students fed during long days of peaceful demonstration.
4. Factionalism and Ousting the "Burger Spokesperson"
The clean, unified image of the protest quickly shattered due to severe internal fights within the CJP leadership. The chaos peaked on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, when the CJP officially sacked its own spokesperson, Vijeta Dahiya.
While thousands of student demonstrators were facing brutal police action on the streets during the 'Chalo Sansad' march, a viral video exposed Dahiya sitting comfortably inside a fast-food outlet eating a burger. The CJP called his behavior "deeply insensitive" and kicked him out, while Dahiya claimed he was merely a "scapegoat" to mask larger hypocrisies within the inner circle.
5. Infiltration by Radical Student Groups
As CJP's internal management crumbled, radical, highly political left-wing student unions rushed to capture the stage. Groups like the Students' Federation of India (SFI), All India Students Association (AISA), and All India Students Federation (AISF) completely took over the narrative.
These groups have a long, aggressive history of using student grievances to orchestrate massive geopolitical standoffs, such as the historic structural blockades seen during past university agitations. Instead of focusing on NEET reforms, these radical elements began using the CJP stage to push external anti-government and anti-national agendas.
6. The Sonam Wangchuk Foreign Funding Scandal
The moral authority of the protest suffered a fatal blow when serious financial irregularities were exposed involving its most high-profile supporter. The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) cancelled the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) license of SECMOL, an NGO founded by star activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Statutory violations uncovered during the investigation include:
Sovereignty Violations: Illegal misuse of foreign funds to study "national sovereignty."
Account Mixing: Illicit mixing of local domestic money with foreign donations.
Unauthorized Banking: Channeling money through unapproved bank accounts.
Furthermore, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a deep probe into unauthorized foreign remittances entering the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL)—another one of Wangchuk's primary projects.
7. Street Chaos and Political Silence
With anti-national groups instigating crowds to break security cordons, the Delhi Police launched a massive lathi charge and tear gas offensive. Amid the violent clashes, hundreds of innocent students were severely beaten and detained. Tragically, some rogue police officers openly misused their power, with reports emerging of male officers assaulting female protesters and deploying personnel without official uniforms or visible name tags.
Throughout this entire disaster, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have maintained total silence, completely failing to address the youth. Seizing on this vacuum, opposition politicians have rushed to the site. Ground realities indicate that 90% of these politicians have never spoken up for local rape victims or societal crises in the past, and are exploiting the NEET stage purely to farm social media clout.
🚨 Current Status
The CJP's severe mismanagement has allowed a sacred student struggle to be hijacked by foreign funding scams and radical organizations. The pure intent of India's medical aspirants has been crushed by political greed.
